Watch out for those hidden fees! When you stay closer to Disneyland, you end up paying more money for the proximity and often get less bang for your buck. By staying at Howard Johnson Hotel and Conference Center, you can save money while getting the same services.

For a two adult and two child family paying $80 per night for a room, you can save over 73% by staying with us rather than in a hotel closer to Disneyland. That’s $60 in your pocket for each night you stay with us!

Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

So my boyfriend and I were searching for a hotel to stay at near Disneyland, and we found a pretty good hotel, close to Disneyland, and at a great price from Hotwire. We stayed 2 nights on a weekend. FREE SHUTTLE is awesome! You save the $15 you’d spend on parking! FYI: on the days we went, around 12-4, they stop the shuttles.

First impression: it looks kind of sketchy but the lobby is clean and pretty nicely decorated. Had no problem with the staff at check in. We even got a FREE upgrade to a king room in the tower (it’s a newer addition than the rest of the hotel) with a balcony. Bonus points! Our room was AWAY from the freeway noise, and we had a private balcony overlooking the pool area. Parking was very convienient! All we had to do was go down the stairs, there’s a gate close-by and parking was easy to find.
The room: was alright when we walked in. A little stuffy inside, but you can get comfortable quickly. Third floor room was perfect! Carpets seemed vaccummed, but I think REPLACING the carpet entirely should be considered since there were quite a few ugly looking stains in our room. The chair also had a few stains, but the bed was clean, sheets were clean, and overall a pretty comfy stay!

HOT Breakfast: is a winner! For the rate we got at the hotel + the free room upgrade + a decent hot breakfast = happy young couple! They had bread (and a toaster), potatoes with some seasoning and onions, a seasoned rice, mini pancakes, and some scrambled eggs with sausage. There was also honeydew, jelly, and butter available. Lots of coffee, OJ, and water. Hours are pretty early, starts at 6am and ends at 9am.

Overall stay was great. I’d stay here again, but only in a balcony room.

FYI: If you’re going to gas at the shell nearby, DON’T USE CARD. Apparently shell puts a $95 hold on your account when you gas with a card. I know for sure because it wasn’t taking my card so I called my bank & he found out that they were trying to do a $95 hold. This actually goes out to ALL SHELL stations because the same thing happened at a local shell by my house.

Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

After all the negatives reviews we decided to give this hotel a try (October 2011) because the manager tried (here in Tripadvisor) to explain all the time things like “new carpet installed on the first floor” or “compare with other hotels, we have free disneyland shuttle and free breakfast”. Well… big disappointment…

Carpet all around the hotel is old, ugly and dirty. I even called months before my reservation to be sure that I was going to receive a room with new carpet (after all the reviews) and the front desk told me on the phone (about a month ago) in a rude way that they can’t reserve a room with new carpet and I will get what is available the day of arrival.

So I took the risk and they gave me a room with a terrible carpet and I asked to change the room and front desk told me that was the only available for what I paid… just frustating…

I stayed in Anaheim last year in another hotel with free breakfast and was much better in quality so even if is the breakfast is free the hotel can always have low cost, good quality products but this is not the case here… they try to save all the money they can with cheap, low quality food that is the same every day.

Finally I just want to say that is amazing that the manager read all the complains here that are pretty much the same and they don’t want to invest on those simple things like:

- New carpet in 100% of the hotel (not just a few rooms that is like a lottery to get
- Better quality of the free breakfast (low cost but good quality)
- Better hours for the disneyland shuttle (you need to leave disneyland several hours before they close just because the shuttle return early at night and was completely full! because was the only one)
- Smell and Cleanliness

Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

Rude front desk staff at check-in = automatic 1 star!! I’ll never return and don’t recommend solely for that reason.

Its too bad too because I would’ve give them a solid 3-4 stars. The rates are very reasonable and the lobby was visually welcoming. Sure there is a bit of wear (paint chipping here and there) but everything was very clean.

Had they not been so unnecessarily rude at check in they would have earned a star for the free shuttle to Disneyland. It leaves hourly and takes about 10 minutes.

They also would’ve earned two more stars for there free hot breakfast. By far the best free breakfast I’ve ever seen at a hotel. – Toast, pancakes, potatoes, Spanish rice, eggs w/ link sausage in it, honeydew melon, coffee and OJ.

Poor form at check-in earns you a solid 1 star. Had the girl at check-in not been such an A-hole I would’ve recommend this hotel but alas….[SOURCE]

So I haven’t been updated the blog lately because I just opened up a restaurant at our hotel, called Kebab Flava.

I’m going a little different strategy with the restaurant than most hotel restaurants.  Instead of having over priced food that tastes pretty bad, I’m going the complete opposite: tasty food for super cheap prices!

Our restaurant basically doesn’t have to pay rent, so I thought, “What the heck!” and proceeded with opening up some high quality, tasty, and healthy food at prices which basically undercut all our competitors.

Anyway, if you’re not at Disneyland, and you’re in the area, come check us out.

More information, our menu, and prices can be found at KebabFlava.com

Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

We stayed there a few weeks ago. We were there for a Large State Pageant the rooms were very nice & clean. Bed was Very Very comfy !!. Hotel staff was a pleasure. The Hotel gave a free breakfast was very nice to enjoy such a large variety of food we had coffee, wheat toast with jam, Scrambled eggs with sausage, papas, Hot pancakes with maple syrup. Ice cold Orange juice all you can drink & eat !! What a pleasure not to have to leave the hotel to go find a place to eat before we enjoyed our day at the pageant. We had the pleasure of enjoying the pool . The gift shop had a really nice man who was very helpful. It was open on a Fri, Sat & Sunday when were there & it was even open at like 11:00 pm & He was eating right there on Sunday instead of closing for lunch what a trooper !! The front desk was so helpful they even gave up a nice big map for dining in the area & stores etc…. The place to stay for sure great value too boot !! Plus there are so many places to take pictures…This was the 3rd time we have been there & stayed a few nights we will be back. Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

“This was a lousy place to live and we would never stay here again.”

We booked this place for a two night stay but regretted it and could not cancel due to online booking.
There is no local calling facility and all the payphones in the lobby have been deliberately disabled so that guests end up using the phones in the rooms and getting charged for them.
We enquired at the front desk about the above situation but they were not very helpful and recommended that we go outside and use payphones.

Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

I would NOT be staying here if I wasn’t a college student!
The people at the desk are so rude! There was an Indian man helping us and we gave him our itinerary, which didn’t come in, the next day he told us he called them and they couldn’t find us so we might get charged twice, then we called http://Bookit.com (DONT BOOK WITH THEM! THEY CHARGED US BEFORE MAKING SURE THEY GOT OUR RESERVATIONS!)and they faxed them the papers and they found us right away! He totally lied! Haha.
Rooms are okay.
+I love the clean sheets. & comfy beds
+10 minutes to Disneyland
+Free T.V.
+Free WIFI
+Nice Pool Area
+Breakfast
+Free shuttle to Disneyland… NOT A SHUTTLE MORE LIKE A RUN DOWN BUS.

-There was a brown stain on one of our sheets, like an old period stain! EW!
-Ice machine, only one…1st floor. (There’s spots for them on every floor though?)
-1 vending machine…1st floor.
-They ran out of kings so we got two doubles. (Good thing we’re not obese…)
I wouldn’t do business with them unless I absolutely had to honestly.[SOURCE]

Why Our Hotel is a Great Value

Great location. About a 10 min drive to Disneyland and Downtown Disney. There was a shopping plaza next door that you could walk to. Very clean rooms and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again next time I’m in town.[SOURCE]
